1970 Ford Maverick Project Restoration:
Joint project with my uncle, who really likes building and restoring classic cars, started during the summer of 2023- Current. The build is slow, but I don’t mind because I get to spend lots of time with my uncle, learning how simple these classic cars are compared to newer vehicles. We bought the car off OfferUp, and it was just a husk. There was nothing except the body of the car, meaning no engine, no transmission, not even wheels; they were all popped. It was in need of a full redo.
History of the car:
1970 Ford Maverick. The car was produced from 1969 to 1977 and was intended to be an economy car to compete with Volkswagen and Toyota in their respective markets, the Beetle and the Corolla. With a starting price of $1,995 and a very simple build intended to attract a broad range of consumers, this configuration came in two options: an inline 6 170 cubic inch engine or an inline 6 200 cubic inch engine. They also produced a grabber edition to the Maverick, which was a little more sporty with a V8 302 engine. The Maverick shifted the American point of view from muscle car to economy.
